Teaching Leaders the Hard Stuff

Published on: 29th August, 2021

Jesus "Eddie" Campa was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. After 27 years of law enforcement experience, Eddie retired from public service and transitioned his experience and expertise to the private sector as a mentor, consultant, and sounding board. He is an internationally and nationally accredited speaker on leadership development, strategic planning, culture change, culture diversity, customer service, community engagement, law enforcement, and security.

Eddie is using his experience and skill in a variety of services/programs to help leaders carry out their activities properly - which means sometimes doing the hard stuff.

His recent book, Unmasking Leadership - What They Don't Tell You, covers exactly that - the pieces of being a leader that aren't always easy - like sometimes you have to make unpopular decisions because they're the "right thing to do". His example is the adage "the customer is always right... until he isn't".

In his interview, Eddie gives some great advice to people heading toward retirement. He reminds us that we should plan ahead of time and ensure we have a transition period, and maybe a "transition identity", because we're going to be leaving one identity behind.
