Old Woman in a Van - with Sandra Snook

Published on: 25th September, 2022

Sandra started planning for retirement before it happened... sort of. She wanted to travel, so she got a van outfitted for it. But she knew she wasn't going to travel ALL the time, just like she wouldn't be staying in her "sticks & bricks" place ALL the time.

She also knew that life couldn't be planned completely - her favourite quote (author unknown, so we can't attribute it to somone) - is:

You can't plan your life... Because then you have a plan, not a life.

But being a "reformed" planner means that there are still lots of things that get planned. For example, she's got a fear of bridges, so she had to have plans in place for travelling across the US, because she knew she would run into bridges at some point.

Sandra is making the most of her retirement, because she knows it's important. Her advice to those of us heading Beyond Retirement:

Be nice to yourself. Give yourself freedome to decide what you want to do.
