Net Wealth is More than Just Money - with Eric Weigel

Published on: 5th March, 2023

Eric Weigel calls himself a Retirement Architect. He is the founder of Retire with Possibilities, an advisory and retirement coaching firm dedicated to helping people consciously design their own journey into retirement.

He is a Certified Professional Retirement Coach and University of Chicago MBA grad with more than 3 decades of experience. He's also the author of "Reimagining Retirement: 9 Keys to True Wealth".

Starting at timestamp 9:00, Eric talks about "NET WEALTH", an acronym he created to identify what he feels are the nine key components necessary for a happy retirement. He believes that traditional retirement planning looks at the first three keys, the answers to where and how you're going to retire:

  • Nest
  • Earnings
  • Time

But the next six keys are crucial to how you see yourself in the future:

  • Work
  • Emotional energy
  • Achievements
  • Learning
  • Tribe
  • Health

He also talks about the need for balance between an "easy" life and a "fulfilling" life, because it's important to have both.
