It's OK to Be You!

Published on: 21st November, 2021

John is a career-transition coach who focuses on helping professionals in the middle and later stages of their career in defining, planning, and achieving more meaningful and sustainable careers.

He is the author of the best-selling book, Boomer Reinvention: How to Create your Dream Career Over 50 and has been named a Top Influencer in Aging by PBS/NextAvenue.

John's main focus is the idea that you don't have to retire if you don't want to. There are many different avenues that you can transfer into to bring you closer - or right TO - your dream career. There is another spot for you if you want it.

You always want to think about yourself as a consultant, even if you’re not an entrepreneur or freelancer: Consultant providing value to a client, unlike an employee taking direction from a supervisor. It’s a mindset: "what is a problem that I can find and then solve." Don’t just show up and do the work. Take responsibility for your work.

John is offering a free ebook to help you begin the process to start your next career move. You can get the book at:

About the Podcast

Beyond Retirement
What really happens after retirement?

If you’re approaching retirement—or already there—and wondering what now?, you’re not alone. The world is full of financial advice for retirement, but there’s far less about how to actually live a fulfilling life once the 9-to-5 ends.

Beyond Retirement is the podcast that explores what comes after the career chapter. Whether your retirement was planned or unexpected, joyful or jarring, you’ll find real stories, honest conversations, and practical inspiration here.

Join host Jacquie Doucette as she shares her own journey and speaks with people who’ve reimagined life after work—some fully retired, some shifting gears, and all discovering new meaning in this next stage. From finding purpose to building community, embracing play, and navigating change, we’ll explore how to create a life that truly fits.

Because retirement isn’t the end—it’s a new beginning.

Let’s figure out what comes next, together.
