Are You Doing ONLY Your Picasso Work?

Published on: 6th December, 2020

The idea of half-retirement is an interesting one. It's presented as an alternative to both full retirement and working yourself to death by not retiring at all.

Business owners have a hard time retiring from their work...if they aren't doing the job, they aren't getting the money in most cases. When they try to sell a business, they often don't get offered what they need for a comfortable retirement.

Jim discusses how he helps business owners scale down their contribution to their business, resulting in their doing the "Picasso work" - the tasks that ONLY they can do - while leaving all the busy work to others. It's accomplished by having someone outside the organization take a look at how it operates and identify what tasks are actually vitally done by the owner or CEO. Usually they can't be separated by someone close to the work, but an outside eye can strip away the flack.

Jim's book, "Half-Retire: Keep Your Business, Ditch the Stress" can be found at Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
